The accelerator strategy

Keep applying until you become the kind of company they accept.

Most founders treat accelerators like an exam.

They apply once, get rejected, and move on.

There is another way to look at it.

Treat getting into an accelerator as an optimization problem.

Apply.

Study the companies that got accepted.

What did they build?

How fast did they build it?

How much traction did they have?

What did their founders look like?

What changed between their first commit and their application?

Then improve your company and apply again.

Your objective shouldn't be to fake what accelerators want. The interesting part is understanding what their selection process reveals about companies with unusually high potential.

If YC keeps selecting founders who launch quickly, talk to customers constantly and grow every week, there is probably something worth learning there.

The accelerator becomes more than funding.

It becomes a benchmark.

And every rejection gives you another iteration.
